The theme for this year’s World Environment Day- Connecting People to Nature encouraged people to get outdoors and into nature, to appreciate its beauty and its importance, and to take forward the call to protect the Earth that we share. Connecting to nature can create awareness about the fragility and sensitivity of our ecosystems and the impact that can result from human activity.

World Environment Day Tree Planting Challenge - June 2016
On 3 June 2016 Conservation Volunteers will host a World Environment Day Tree Planting Challenge and they invite you to participate! Teams of 10 members each will have two hours to plant as many trees as they can. Each team will be judged based on both the number of trees planted and planting quality.
Celebrating World Environment Day
Friday June 5th marks World Environment Day, the United Nations’ main event for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the environment. This year's theme is "Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care.", highlighting that the well-being of mankind, the environment, and the functioning economy, ultimately depend on the responsible management of the planet's natural resources.
