We would like to welcome Worawa Aboriginal College Ltd. to the Ecotourism Australia Business Member community!

The Worawa Aboriginal College, which was established in 1983, is governed by Aboriginal people and operates in an Aboriginal framework based on Aboriginal values. It provides a holistic education and boarding experience for young Aboriginal women in the middle years of schooling (7-12) who come from Aboriginal communities in urban, regional and remote Australia.

These young women often come to the college presenting with complex issues, having experienced individual factors which have impacted their ability to focus on education. The aim of the college is to provide a holistic education program incorporating education, culture and wellbeing, which gives students the opportunity to grow not only academically, but also socially, emotionally, culturally and spiritually into future leaders.

Every student has a personal learning program designed for her and after year 10, Worawa helps students to go on to TAFE or to senior certificate through a network of partner schools.

The college works hard to foster what Principal and Executive Director Lois Peeler says are three essentials for a good future: pride and confidence in themselves and in culture; a strong education, especially in literacy and numeracy, but in all the main areas of school; and a safe, fit and healthy life-style.
