Food waste is a significant pollutant that gets introduced into the earth’s atmosphere or ground water reserves from landfill disposal. When food decomposes in landfill, it gives off greenhouse gases, particularly Carbon Dioxide and Methane. Methane is the worst, as it is 25 times more potent than the carbon pollution that comes out of a cars exhaust. 1 kilogram of food waste equates to over 4.2 kg of Carbon Dioxide.
The LFC solves this problem by diverting food waste from landfill. It is a fully enclosed automatic commercial bio digester that decomposes food waste in under 24 hours. It uses a series of processes where microorganisms break down the waste into grey water that’s safe to discharge into the sewage system. In doing this, the LFC significantly reduces carbon emissions, hence reducing the facility's carbon footprint. In under 24 hours, the LFC can dispose of food waste including fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, most organic foods, cheese, bread, rice, noodles & more. It is essentially a large stainless steel stomach.
The LFC can connect to a cloud server. It securely sends data about the operation of the machine, as well as generating service alerts and diagnostics. The data includes the amount of food waste digested hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly, the number of times the door is opened in these periods, and the amount of CO2 diverted from the landfill during these periods. If there are multiple machines, it can aggregate the data into a single report. There are other benefits to the Liquid Food Composter, such as employees not wasting time or risking possible injury by pushing / lifting heavy bins outside for collection. It also dramatically increases facilities’ hygiene and reduces flies, rodents and other vermin in and around waste bins.
