WA locals show interest in getting to know their state
Western Australia (WA) has noticed an increasingly positive development in domestic tourism over the last few months with recent statistics from Tourism Research Australia recording a 25% increase in WA residents taking day trips compared 2014, with a 10% increase in overnight trips. 2015 up to September saw the total visitor spend in WA reach $8.9 billion, up from $8.1 billion the previous year.
Over 20% of Aussies want a real Ecotourism experience
New statistics released in June 2015 by Roy Morgan Research have found that 21.6% of Australians (some 4.2 million people) agree with the statement, “For my next holiday, I’d really like a total ecotourism experience”, up slightly from 19.3% (or 3.6 million) in the year to June 2011.
Ecotourism Australia Certified Businesses Reach $1.11B p/year
Last year Ecotourism Australia’s certified businesses combined annual revenue reached over a billion dollars for the first time. This year the total has reached $1.11B!
