One of the longest running 4WD operations, Surf & Sand Safaris, have achieved Advanced Ecotourism certification. Congratulations!

Surf & Sand Safaris run half and full-day 4WD tours departing from Rainbow Beach, QLD. Their tours take you past the Coloured Sands, Double Island Point Lighthouse, the Red Canyon, into Cooloola National Park and many more of the region's best spots. Their modern, air conditioned fleet of 4WDs and 11 seater buses guarantee comfort and small group sizes, and guests enjoy interpretation on the unique ecology of the areas visited, and the local modern, and Indigenous history.

Surf & Sand Safaris have achieved Advanced Ecotourism certification through demonstrating their excellence in several ways. They endeavour to leave the areas they visit in a better state than when they arrived, encouraging guests to pick up their rubbish, and volunteering staff to assist in beach clean-ups. The company also support the Noosa Parks Association by providing transport for their conservation programs, and are engaged with the Double Island Point Lighthouse Repeater Committee.

The tour commentary places an emphasis the fact that the itineraries traverse two neighbouring Biosphere Reserves, the only location in the world where this occurs – the Noosa Biosphere Reserve and the Great Sandy Biosphere Reserve. These areas are internationally recognised as sites where human activity and natural systems co-exist in a sustainable manner, which reinforces the company's determination to operate with minimal impact through the principles of ecotourism.

Congratulations again to Surf & Sand Safaris!
