Congratulations On the Wallaby Eco Lodge and Tours for being awarded Ecotourism Certification for their Eco Lodge and two of their tours.

On the Wallaby Eco Lodge - “A home for those who roam” is a great base to explore the beautiful lakes, waterfalls and rainforest of the Atherton Tablelands (1hr from Cairns). Visitors can go platypus spotting and enjoy a delicious nightly barbeque dinner. If you’re feeling more active you can also head out on a mountain biking or canoeing tour, or just kick back and enjoy the relaxed home-away-from-home environment.

The lodge provides visitors with a unique opportunity to experience sustainable education through low-key interpretive signage and interactive displays about conservation and energy generating systems that are used throughout the lodge. The Green Wally project will be an ongoing project that aims to establish On the Wallaby Lodge as the greenest lodge in the world. The hope of On the Wallaby is to educate and delight their guests and to inspire visitors to make sustainable choices in their own homes and communities. The Green Wally project is also instrumental to educating young students on sustainability and conservation and is a fantastic location for school tours including MacKillop College who have been taking their students to experience the On the Wallaby Eco Lodge for numerous years.

On the Wallaby also offers two Ecotourism Certified tours including wildlife canoeing tours (day/night) and mountain biking tours. Both the day and night wildlife canoeing tours allow travellers to get back to nature by exploring a secluded area of Lake Tinaroo in a two-person canoe where their guide points out the wildlife in the area.

Visitors can also enjoy a guided mountain bike ride through the lush, green Atherton Tablelands countryside and rainforest or, weather permitting, an adventurous ride on the trails at the Atherton Forest Mountain Biking Park. The ride finishes with a swim at a local swimming hole or at the beautiful volcanic crater, Lake Eacham.

Congratulations once again to On the Wallaby for gaining Ecotourism Certification and welcome to the Ecotourism Australia family!
