Financing options are available for clean energy projects in the Great Barrier Reef Catchment area through The Clean Energy Finance Corporation's (CEFC) Reef Funding Program. The $1 billion investment program makes finance options available for projects which support the delivery of the Government's Reef 2050 plan, with an aim to bring benefits to support the long-term health of the Great Barrier Reef.

The Reef Funding Program supports projects across renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low emissions technologies across a number of sectors, including tourism.

Their investment strategy is focused on cleaner power solutions and previously have included large and small-scale solar, wind and bioenergy, infrastructure, and energy efficient property and vehicles. The CEFC also invests with co-financiers to develop new sources of capital for the clean energy sector, including climate bonds, equity funds, aggregation facilities and other financial solutions.
