Ecotourism Australia would like to congratulate and welcome Blue Dolphin Marine Tours for achieving Ecotourism certification for their products- Exclusive Whale Watching Encounter, Fraser Island Eco-Sailing Adventure and Champagne Sunset Sail.
With nearly 30 years’ experience, Blue Dolphin Marine Tours offer one of the most comprehensive whale watching tours in Queensland aboard a comfortable, multi award-winning sailing vessel. The ‘Blue Dolphin’ is a modern, luxurious and very well appointed sailing catamaran launched in May of 2011.
Blue Dolphin Marine Tours aim to provide guests with an informative, inspirational experience while providing awareness about sustainability and encouraging appropriate behaviour when in a marine environment.
Blue Dolphin Marine Tours are committed to practising minimal impact tourism within the Great Sandy Straits Marine Park while following the Australian National Guidelines for Whale and Dolphin Watching. All crew members are given thorough on the job training that includes environmental awareness education. They are committed to lowering their carbon footprint and have recently installed solar panels to power their office operations.
Blue Dolphin Marine Tours hold protecting whales, dolphins, dugongs and turtles from interference with their vessel (especially from collisions) of the highest consideration and a spotter is appointed at all times to avoid disturbance. If they do encounter or spot any wildlife that appears to be sick or stranded, it is reported to Queensland Parks and Wildlife.
Blue Dolphin support local conservation groups and initiatives in the form of donations, membership and contributions which include Fraser Coast Discovery Sphere, Paddle Out for Whales, O.R.C.C.A. and Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Peter, one of the owners of Blue Dolphin, recently attended the World Cetacean Alliance’s World Whale Conference and Whale Heritage Sites Summit in June 2017.
