The 4th of October 2017 is World Animal Day and we would like to acknowledge and celebrate a few of our certificated operators who contribute and support this year’s mission- ‘To raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe’.

Many of our certified Zoo’s and Wildlife Sanctuary’s are raising awareness and educating the community about the importance of protecting animals, maintaining high animal welfare standards and are directly supporting animals welfare locally and across the world.

Taronga Zoo, an Advanced Ecotourism Certified operator, run wildlife hospitals which assist the rescue and rehabilitation of animals, including Sea Turtles, Powerful Owls, White Bellied Sea-Eagle, Buller’s Albatross and Penguins. They also run an ‘Anti-Poaching’ Campaign in Zambia, a project within South Luangwa National Park to reduce illegal snaring and shooting of animals for trade and bush meat trade.

Werribee Open Range Zoo, which is managed by Zoos Victoria, hold Ecotourism Certification and are working with Fighting Extinction Schools, where students investigate real life wildlife conservation issues and contribute to action that will help protect animals in the wild. They also run local and international conservation programs set up to fight wildlife extinction.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, a Nature Tourism Certified operator, has provided a safe refuge for sick, injured and orphaned koalas since 1927, whilst providing opportunities for guests to learn about protecting and caring for koalas and other Australian animals.
