Congratulations to our newest certified operator, 100% carbon neutral Uluru Camel Tours, for achieving both Advanced Ecotourism and Climate Action Business Certification for their short ride, express tour, sunrise tour and sunset tour.

Uluru Camel Tours are Australia’s largest camel farm with more than 60 camels, located in the township of Yulara in the Northern Territory. The company has won a massive 17 tourism awards since 2012, and annually contributes $1 million to the local and regional economies through wages, purchasing goods and services and payment of commissions to regional tourism businesses.

Experiences available at Uluru Camel Tours are unique outback adventures: visitors ride camels through the spectacular red desert landscape, bringing them closer to nature as they enjoy stunning and uninterrupted views of the iconic Uluru and Kata Tjuta landscape. Uluru Camel Tours are conscious of the fragility of the environment in which they operate, and actively promote its beauty and value to visitors.

They are also a proud Northern Territory business, committed to the sustainability of both the local environment and the local community. They invest locally, buy locally, employ locals and recycle. They are also actively involved in the community through such things as offering locals 40% discounts on tours and donating camel poo to the local school’s kitchen garden project. Additionally, since embarking on a native planting project in 2017, they have planted more than 200 native trees and shrubs sourced from local nurseries.

Joining a tour at the camel farm is an opportunity to learn more about the history of inland Australia. The region has a rich history associated with the camels, called the ‘ships of the desert.’ While on the trail, cameleers tell stories of the territory and learn more about local fauna and flora. Uluru Camel Tours offer four tours per day. Their express rides are ideal for travellers on a busy schedule, whilst sunrise and sunset experiences last longer and include local food served at the farm after the ride.
