THE EXPERIENCE | AN UNFORGETTABLE DAY
It’s a magical moment: the sun dips out from under the clouds, reflecting its golden glow on the wet sand below and gradually moves toward the horizon, bathing the enormous rocks in fiery hues of red, orange and pink. The shadows of the 12 Apostles, along Australia’s Great Ocean Road, gently grow longer as the day comes to an end.
For participants of Bunyip Tours’ trip to this part of Australia, it’s the end of a fun day of exploring Australia’s countryside. As they linger – just a bit longer than the rest of the crowd watching this magnificent sunset – they reflect, with a smile on their face, on the new friends they’ve made on this tour and the renewed sense of connection they feel not only with the landscape but with those around them.
The guides have been very informative. Who knew that one person could keep so much information in their head?! Amazing. And so passionate about travel. They’ll definitely be getting a special mention in the TripAdvisor review later.
There have been many highlights on this tour – the Great Ocean Road, feeling the sand underfoot on that stunning surf beach, catching the rare sight of a Koala in the wild, wandering through the lush Otway Ranges rainforest and visiting the sustainable working farm to enjoy local produce and learn about the resident Alpacas.
And all that in a day! Next time, they’ll have to book a longer tour…

Today, Bunyip Tours pride themselves on being one of Melbourne’s premier small group tour operators. In 2010, they were inducted into the Tourism Victoria Hall of Fame and for two years running, they have been recognised as one of Victoria’s premier Major Tour and Transport Operators at the Victorian Tourism Awards, winning gold in 2016 and silver in 2017.
“We poured our heart and soul into the submission,” says Polly Gibson, Marketing Manager, about the 2016 awards.
“When we were awarded Gold, it made all the hard work worth it.”
