What have you heard about the Great Barrier Reef? If we hazard a guess, there’s a good chance it was bad news. Our media, as much as we love it and learn from it, seems to enjoy focusing on the problems when it comes to the reef – coral bleaching, climate change impacts, the dying reef, overfishing – the list goes on. But what we don’t get to hear much about is what people are doing to protect the reef, and to conserve it for future generations. In this article we want to share just some of these things – plus give you some easy ways to get involved and be part of the solution.

World Environment Day Tree Planting Challenge - June 2016

On 3 June 2016 Conservation Volunteers will host a World Environment Day Tree Planting Challenge and they invite you to participate! Teams of 10 members each will have two hours to plant as many trees as they can. Each team will be judged based on both the number of trees planted and planting quality.

Have you met our auditors?

Ecotourism Australia has successfully completed over 80 audits, of our certified operators, since the launch of our audit partnership with Conservation Volunteers Australia. We’re excited to announce that more certification audits are being scheduled for the final half of the year! It is anticipated that New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australian operators will have their audits completed between September and December 2015.

Audits planned for NSW, QLD, NT and TAS between March and June

We're excited to announce that as part of Ecotourism Australia's partnership with Conservation Volunteers (CV), on-site audits of ECO certified operators will be conducted across New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland and Tasmania between the months of March and June. This follows successful audits conducted on Victorian operators under the partnership over the December/January period.
