13 SIMPLE SWAPS THAT WILL REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT
Climate change is a reality and in case you didn’t know, tourism currently makes up 8% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. Whilst the challenge to combat rising temperatures and reduce our global carbon footprint can often feel intimidatingly huge, it’s actually pretty simply to make a few little changes in your life and business that will reduce, if not completely erase, your carbon footprint.
The Hour of Power
This Saturday night at 8.30pm, cities all around the world will turn their lights off for one hour and turn their attention to planet Earth. Beginning in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour has rapidly become a global movement where hundreds of millions of people across the globe come together to demand greater action on climate change. Since its introduction 11 years ago, the event had grown to unite over 7,000 cities and towns across 187 countries and territories making Earth Hour, a staple of environmental awareness for the future of our planet.

Happy World Oceans Day!
Happy World Oceans Day! Today is a day dedicated to educating ourselves and others about the crucial roles that oceans play in sustaining and supporting our planet and humankind, recognising the current conditions of our oceans and the issues and risks surrounding them today, and encouraging positive change as individuals and communities to conserve and protect Earth’s life support system. Ecotourism is an industry that not only benefits from and depends on pristine natural environments and ecosystems, but can also act as a platform through which to educate visitors, encourage and support involvement in conservation initiatives and inspire positive, environmentally-friendly tourist behaviour.

And the tourism industry, with an enormous stake in the health of the Great Barrier Reef, can help shape its future.
