Yesterday, 28th October 2014, Ecotourism Australia (EA) held their 2014 Annual General Meeting with its largest recorded attendance due to the use of new technology. For the first time the meeting was conducted via web conferencing and now paves the way for EA’s future meetings and facilitating participation by members across the nation.

This years’ AGM saw five Director positions open for election. Duncan McKenzie chose to retire from the Board whilst current Directors Tony Charters, Peter Cochrane, Michael Collins and Shelley Lavender sought re-election for another two year term. Also nominating was Dan Cove of Jenolan Caves, Angus M Robinson of Leisure Solutions, and Cathie Withyman of Kayak Noosa.

The Chairman, Rick Murray, thanked all 5 retiring Directors for their contribution to the company during their term and particularly noted the efforts of Duncan Mackenzie who was retiring after more than ten years on the Board. He noted that Duncan Mackenzie had spent several years as Chairman and as Deputy Chairman and contributed a great deal to the development of the organisation over those years.

The Director’s election was held via anonymous polling via web conferencing and the successful candidates were:

  • Tony Charters,
  • Peter Cochrane,
  • Michael Collins,
  • Shelley Lavender, and
  • Dan Cove.

Ecotourism Australia would like to thank Angus M Robinson and Cathie Withyman for their ongoing hard work and support.

Ecotourism Australia congratulates the newly installed Directors and welcomes Mr. Cove to the Board. The results continue the tradition of Ecotourism Australia’s Board being comprised of strong, engaged and knowledgeable Board members combining active tour operators, tourism professionals and Land Managers.
