Gwinganna’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices has shaped the resort in many ways. Ten years ago, the retreat employed two full-time specialty staff; a botanist/social ecologist and an organic gardener and beekeeper, this has allowed them to further understand the surrounding local environment and produce a variety of local, fresh and organic produce on the property. Gwinganna aims to produce and grow as much of their own produce as possible, including fruit, vegetables and herbs which the chefs use daily to prepare fresh and delicious meals for the guests. The property also has a composting program, worm farms, chickens and four active beehives. These beehives purpose is to increase pollination and provide organic honey.

Gwinganna have also created their own Wildlife Survival Program and work with and support Wildcare Australia who rescue and rehabilitate sick and injured native wildlife. They also raise money to help this cause by offering guests to make a donation.
