Ecotourism Australia has developed an extensive online library of ecotourism and nature-based tourism related resources.

The Ecotourism Resource Hub will be accessible to the public and all industry stakeholders.

The Hub is a lasting legacy from the National Landscapes program. Ecotourism Australia has collaborated with Parks Australia and Tourism Australia to collate all National Landscape resources into one resource centre – to ensure the industry has access to this valuable source of reports and data collected over many years.

“The Hub is a unique source of information for the ecotourism industry in Australia – the first time a central database has been created to host many years of experience, data and expertise.

We want the industry to have access to this valuable source of detailed information, and encourage businesses and individuals to utilise the free resources,” advises Mr Rod Hillman, CEO of Ecotourism Australia.

Nationally, the nature-based tourism sector makes a very significant contribution to the Australian economy each year. 2015-16 figures show that international and domestic visitors made 48.3 million trips which involved nature-based tourism activities; and contributed $39.7 billion to the economy. This was an increase of 23% on the previous year (source: Tourism Research Australia, National Visitor Survey and International Visitor Survey).

Ecotourism Australia’s Ecotourism Resource Hub will be a valuable tool for tourism operators, students, protected area managers and other stakeholders allowing easy access to comprehensive knowledge about the ecotourism and nature-based industry.

The online platform aims to facilitate access to all the latest current nature-based tourism information in Australia in one central location. It offers toolkits, case studies, the latest research statistics and trends on nature-based tourism as well as current state-based plans, protected area management plans and operator opportunities.

We really value your input. Industry feedback on any additional resources to include would be appreciated.
