EA: What has certification meant to your business over the past 20 years?
TWCT&C: Our eco-certification has given us the recognition of our own eco-initiatives, and also identified us as a leading tourism operator in sustainability. Over the years we have also gone through the eco-certification process with our other companies within The CaPTA Group, which made us realise that we actually already have many sustainable practices in place, as these have been deeply embedded into our ethos and values. It was just a matter of reflecting on these, and then determining what needed to be implemented to achieve further excellence in eco-tourism, and how we can also support many of our region’s initiatives to make it one of the most sustainable tourism destinations in the world.
